nationalyoyocontest.com

In my perspective, you’ll see things that happened at the contest that you never noticed before on the nationals 2017 videos.

This contest was easily the best contest that I’ve ever been to. I never thought that I would ever be the video sponsor at a contest this big.

Thank you so much to TOP-YO, YoyoBestBuy, YoyoNation, and Ozhiriz for making this possible for me.

And also, thank you #TESTOSTERONEBOYZ (yungranchcrew plus yoyohypesquad) for making this contest fun, and by fun I mean LOUD. Finally, congratulations to Evan Nagao for becoming the new 1a National Champion.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy this half hour LorenzYo Cubing special!!!

Vlog#1 West Coast Yoyo Championship 2017

Instead of doing a trick compilation video or a lifestreams for trhis competition, I decided to be like Rowland Balcom and do a vlog!!!

In the beginning of the day, Hanz and I woke up at 3:00 AM and drove 6 hours all the way to Fontana. We arrived there 20 minutes early so we had to wait in the hot sun outside the venue where I got to see my yoyo friends again, including some members of the YoyoHypeSquad. When I walked into the venue, my heart stopped for a second once I saw the stage. It was unlike the stages for competitions that I’ve seen before. This was a real stage!!! The good news was I wouldn’t have to worry about outside weather while performing.

Speaking of performing, I ended up getting 24th place out of the 37 that competed in the 1a Pro Division which I was really happy about because I didn’t get last.

Did I mention that the YoyoHypeSquad made it’s first official appearance at the competition? If you wanna know which performance was the loudest, skip to the section where Evan Nagao performed.

Thank You so much to Tsai Ding (creator of TOPYO) for sponsoring me and paying my competition fee.

Bay Area Classic Yoyo Championships 2017 – BAC 2017 Results and Livestream

The 20th Bay Area Classic happened Saturday, June 3, 2017 and was such an awesome event.  Although I did not compete, I supported the competition by having LorenzYoCubing.com as a Silver Sponsor!  On top of that we officially live streamed the whole event from start to finish!

This event have historically produced many champions and yoyo experts serves as an inspiration to me and to many generations of yoyoers like me.  In fact, the very first exposure I experienced to the Yoyo world as it exist today was BAC 2015, where I met Brandon Vu, Gentry Stien and JD Steele.  I was awe struck not knowing that such an event and community exist.

Like me, many young people have been influenced by this event.  It is amazing to think that for 20 years, the BAC have captured the attention and imagination of generations of Yoyoers and is going strong to this day.

As I have mentioned in the previous posts, lorenzyocubing.com is a silver sponsor of the event.  In addition to that, our production crew, aka my family, went to the event and did a multi-camera live stream using the latest tech, SlingStudio.  The whole event was live streamed on my YouTube Channel.

Now you can relive and rewatch every moment of the event, from Prelims to finals to announcing the winners of each Division. and everything else in between.

So check out the video!  As always please like, subscribe and share…

Congratulations to all our winners!

CAL State Yoyo Competition 2017 1A Prelims – 28th Lorenzo Penacerrada

You guys have been asking for it, so here it is, my Cal State Yoyo Competition 2017 1A Prelims performance.

Enjoy…Rant video coming soon!

Going on stage for the first time pushed my nerves to the limit.  But when I watched the video of my performance, it felt a lot worse that it looked.  I did not quite make the finals, but getting the experience is inspiring me to do it again.  (Competition Results click here).

This is definitely an event that I will continue to attend year after year.  Thank you all for hanging out and being cool.

Check out the  video and let me know what you think.

California State Yoyo Competition 2017

After a week of stressing out, it finally happened, the California State Yoyo Competition 2017.

Why was I stressed, well as it was my very first competition ever! Even though going into it was nerve racking, it was so much fun. This year it was held at Jack London Square in Oakland. The venue was pretty cool, right by the warf near the Oakland/Alameda border. The weather was sunny with patchy clounds with just the right amount of cool breeze. It was perfect 🙂

The competition was pretty well attended. There were a lot of players who I have seen from the previous couple of years as well as new ones whom I have met. Overall everyone was cool.

YoyoBestBuy and YoyoStringLab was there showing the latest yoyos, string and gear. The even was sponsored by all the cool brands, OneDrop, MagicYoyo, Recess, YoyoFreaks, Buddhabearing, YoyoExpert, Yoyofficer, Unprld, Studio42, Spindoctors, MonkeyFingerDesign, JDEvents, National Yoyo League and Yoyohype.

Going on stage for the first time pushed my nerves to the limit.  But when I watched the video of my performance, it felt a lot worse that it looked.  I did not quite make the finals, but getting the experience is inspiring me to do it again.  (Competition Results click here).

The players whom I have met and spent time with that day felt more like a family.  Even though we come from different places and all  walks of life, I feel connected.

This is definitely an event that I will continue to attend year after year.  Thank you all for hanging out and being cool.

Check out the compilation video below of the event and let me know what you think.

BAC Yoyo Competition 2016

This is when I went to the Bay Area Classic Yoyo Competition 2016. Although I didn’t compete, I had a fun time meeting new people, yoyoing, and watching all the competitor’s performances.

I got to meet up with friends whom I have met in past events.  Seeing them again and witnessing how they have grown in yoyo tricks and skills is really an awesome experience.  We spend the day not only watching the awesome display on stage, but also sharing and showing what we know and have practiceds since last we hung out.

In the video you will see lots of yoyos and combo tricks thrown by various players.  In parts where I am doing tricks, you will see me use the OneDrop Gauntlet.

The atmosphere at this event is really cool and chill.  It is easy to walk up to kids my age and even older kids and strike a conversation, throw a few spins and hang out.

I also had the chance to see the professionals displaying their art in executing yoyo performances.

Watch the video and see if you recognize famous yoyoers doing their thing!

California State Yoyo Competition 2016

It’s time for a road trip to the California State Yoyo Competition aka Cal State.  This is the first time I attended this event and it was very exciting.

The event was held in Chico California, which was about a two and a half hour drive from Brentwood.  Although the car ride was a bit long, it was well worth the trip.

When we arrived in Chico and found our way through town, it quickly dawned on me that this was a special town for Yoyos.  We found the National Yoyo Museum which displayed the history of yoyo competitions, even the world championships.

I also saw the biggest working wooden yoyo I have ever seen.

But perhaps the highlight of the trip, besides witnessing the Cal State competition for me was connecting with so many yoyoers.  It is so cool to see this hobby being enjoyed my so many.
