Yoyo Tricks – YoyoFreaks #Pound

During the summer in the second week of June, JD asked if I wanted to take a prototype with me on vacation in Arizona and shoot some clips at the Grand Canyon. Of course I said “heck yeah!!!”. And the yoyo he gave me was a raw YoyoFreaks #Pound.

While we were at the Grand Canyon tour, every time we stopped somewhere my dad whipped out his camera and started recording me. During the video you may notice the beautiful scenery behind me being either the Grand Canyon, a trail, or the mountains close to the Grand Canyon.

Fun fact about this video, this was shot the day before I broke the ceiling fan light at the rental home we got in Arizona. You can see that video on my Instagram.

So the YoyoFreaks #Pound is the normal sized version of the YoyoFreaks Hashtag. I will make a review on this yoyo soon but for now I gotta say this is one of my most favorite throws.

I hope you enjoy the video as much as I loved filming it.

Yoyo Unboxing – C3YoyoDesign Bastet

In this unboxing I unboxed the C3YoyoDesign Bastet.

C3 Bastet at YoyoStoreRewind

When I first threw the yoyo, it was very smooth, but while testing the smoothness of the yoyo which involves placing your finger against it, I noticed that the yoyo was very glossy. So when I tried grinding, the yoyo kept rolling off my arm. So the only way I could grind without the yoyo rolling off was if I tilted my hand down a lot.

In terms of playability, the yoyo feels very powerful when you throw it down, so when you throw it you’ll feel a very heavy thud. It feels very bouncy when you land it on the string. It’s right in the middle of floaty and stable so it’s sort of an all around type of yoyo. Although since it’s so narrow, it’s very difficult to catch the yoyo sometimes while playing horizontal.

According to YoyoStoreRewind, the Yoyo “has the great balance of the Radius, but the smoothness of the Capless that gives it really sweet rejection tricks. That smoothness also lends itself to intense long combos.”  It definitely has a unique feel to it.

This Yoyo would be a great buy if you are looking to try something new and unique.

Throw Score Yoyo Review EP#11 – MagicYoyo Metal Skyva

In this episode of Throw Score, I reviewed the MagicYoyo Metal Skyva.

MagicYoyo Metal Skyva at yoyobestbuy.com

MagicYoyo Metal Skyva at yoyonation.com

After playing with this yoyo I am amazed at how good this yoyo plays and am surprised that this is actually a MagicYoyo. The Plastic Skyva was okay but the metal version gave it abilities that the original didn’t, specifically finger grinds. This yoyo only had a few but very little flaws that kept it from being a 5/5 throw.

First off, while playing horizontally I noticed that it was a bit difficult to catch the yoyo on the string if I was for example doing a horizontal Eli hop. It was just a tad narrow and would’ve been better if it was a tad wider than it is. The second problem was the inner cup grinds, but I’m not talking about finger spins because those are perfect. I’m talking about talon and thumb grinds. The only ledge you really have to do those types of grinds is the section of the face where it starts leading in to the finger spin dimple. It is very rounded and far from the outer section in the diameter of the yoyo. This would’ve been better it the place where it starts leading into the dimple was closer to the outer section of the face and a bit flatter.

Other than that, the playability of this yoyo is fantastic. I highly recommend this yoyo to anyone who loved the original skyva.

Yoyo Unboxing – YoyoRecreation POM Gargantua

We’ve finally reached the end of this unboxing series and this video I unboxed the YoyoRecreation POM Gargantua.

When I first threw this yoyo, I noticed that it had a little vibe and that it burned to grind. While in play though, it handled my tricks and combos very well. since it was light for it size and oversized, it was really good for speed combos. It pretty much was just like the YoyoRecreation POM Diffusion. Horizontal finger grinds on this yoyo were very good because the face was very wide and con-caved towards the center. Also, I noticed that since the size was so big, it was very easy to hit whip tricks because the yoyo can catch the string very easily.

Overall, the YoyoRecreation POM Gargantua is a yoyo that is great at speed and catching the yoyo in whip tricks because of its size. This is definitely a yoyo you should have in your collection and I highly recommend it.

Throw Talk Thursday Ep#3 – Speedy or Techy

This video was a livestream of LorenzYo Cubing of lorenzyocubing.com from Scottsdale AZ.  In the video he interacted with viewers answering questions and taking requests for Yoyo Tricks and Mini Yoyo tutorials.

The main topic discussed today was around style of Yoyo play. Is LorenYo Cubing a speedy player or a techy player or something completely different?

In the video he displayed yoyos from YoyoFreaks, the prototype of the YoyoFreaks #Pound and the #Hashtag, TOPYO Quantum and the YOYOFFICER Rave. All these yoyos are bi-metal. The Yoyos were provided by Yoyobestbuy.

Throw Score Ep#9 – YOYOFFICER Yacare

This episode of Throw Score Yoyo Reviews is on the YOYOFFICER YACARE.

After playing with the YOYOFFICER Yacare for a week, it has quickly become one of my favorite throws.  This yoyo is designed to be speedy and flawless at finger spins.  It is super smooth with a glossy finish that almost feels like it is bead blasted.  The throw is light and the shape is angular which makes it great for speed and horizontal tricks as well.

Best of all is the value you get from this yoyo.  The price is about $40 but the yoyo quality and playability is well above its price range.

If your play style is speedy and you do a lot of horizontal tricks, including finger spins, you will be happy with this awesome throw from YOYOFFICER.

“100 Yoyos, 10 Color Ways, 1 Time Run,” that is what sums up YoyoFreaks Hashtag.  This is something you can get at yoyobestbuy.

With the plethora of yoyo companies and yoyo models out there, YoyoFreaks is doing something different, quality versus quantity.  There are only 100 yoyos made of this series.  So when they are gone, they are gone.

This yoyo is a miniature sized bi-metal yoyo that is amazing at fingerspins.  The yoyo is bead blasted to a really smooth texture.  In fact the yoyo feels dead smooth. The yoyo is light but heavy for a mini yoyo. All Grinds on this yoyo are amazing!!!

YoyoFreaks Hashtag feels really good while at play.  It is excellent at speedy and techy type tricks. Despite it’s size, the yoyo can play well according to any style of play you do, although horizontal is a little difficult because of it’s size. Overall, I highly recommend this yoyo and in my opinion, it is the best miniature sized yoyo out there right now. Get one before it’s gone!!!

Yoyo Unboxing – MagicYoyo Carpfin

Okay guys we are going through this cycle again because I have received six new yoyos from yoyobesbuy and I’m ready to start unboxing and reviewing these!!! In this unboxing I unboxed the new MagicYoyo Carpfin.

MagicYoyo Carpfin At YoyoBestBuy.com

MagicYoyo At Amazon.com

When I first took the yoyo out of the package I immediately noticed that there was some weight to the yoyo. I also noticed that the face of the yoyo looked just like the face of the YoyoFactory Shutter. When I first threw the yoyo, it was dead smooth. While playing with the yoyo, it is more on the heavier side. Even though I can keep a constant pace while doing tricks, it doesn’t carry out speed combos that well, because of the weight. I think that this yoyo was designed to do techy tricks at a constant pace, sort of similar to the styles of Yuuki Spencer and Zach Gormley.

Grinds on this yoyo are fine. The only grinds that I had trouble with were inner cup grinds for example talon and thumb grinds. The reason I had trouble with those was because the inner cup was glossy as opposed to the rest of the yoyo which is bead blasted. Since it is glossy, if you grab the inner cup with your skin, the yoyo will whirl around. I recommend that if you are going to to inner cup grinds then use mostly your fingernails so that the metal won’t snag on your fingers. horizontal finger grinds are okay because you already mostly use your fingernail when you do a finger spin.

The MagicYoyo Carpfin is a good yoyo for a player that does techy style tricks at a normal pace. Grinds are okay as long as you use mostly fingernail while doing inner cup grinds. Overall, I highly recommend this yoyo.
