In this episode of throw score yoyo review, I reviewed the latest version of the TopYo Colossus, the TopYo Photon. This was the same yoyo in the unboxing video published earlier in my channel. The Yoyo was provided by YoyoBestBuy.
The TopYo Photon is a fun and very capable pocket bi-metal Yoyo. Yes even though it is all aluminum alloy, it is made of of two alloys a 7003 Body with a 7075 Rim. It is a lot of fun. It has a solid feel that fools you into thinking it is a full size yoyo.
As you can see from the pictures and in the video below, the TopYo Photon is an undersized yoyo. According to TopYo this design was derived from the Quantum. It comes with two type of Aluminum, 7003 Body with a 7075 rim. Given it has two different Aluminum it is technically a bi-metal.
In this episode of throw score yoyo review, I reviewed the latest version of the TopYo Impulse, the bi-metal TopYo Impulse S. This was the same yoyo in the unboxing video of the TopYo Sponsorship package #5.
The TOPYO Impulse S has the same shape and dimensions as the original Impulse. The body is made of 7003 Aluminum with added stainless steel rims inset into the cup. So if you like the original impulse the S will be very familiar but with a little more power.
Remember the review I did on one of Topyo’s solid performing yoyos, the Topyo Impulse. Well if you have become a believer in this quality value brand of throws, wait until you see how this yoyo just got a tad hotter. You have seen this in my Throw Talk Thursday. Now see the Topyo Impulse S up close.
In my yoyo unboxing of the Duncan Haymaker X, you can see the yoyo up close and in motion as I take it through various trick combos. It is in that video that I demonstrated using the yoyo in regular play. According to Duncan, “the engineering and design process for the HaymakerX was the most difficult to-date. Our team spent countless hours tuning the body and press fitting the stainless steel rings to ensure durability and stability on every throw.” And from what I have experienced with the Haymaker X, all that work manifested in the performance of this Yoyo.
It is very impressive out of the box. It is beautifully crafted and very sleek. The looks of the yoyo is certainly matched by it’s performance.

The newest YoyoFreaks Yoyo finally arrived and I thought that I would try it out by taking it outside!!! #HashtagPromo haha. So the YoyoFreaks Hashtag is a miniature sized bi-metal yoyo that is designed to be really good at fingerspins. Even though I have not done a ThrowScore, I can already say the performance of this yoyo is very very high.
YoyoFreaks at YoyoBestBuy
The video is a trick video from the “Yoyoers” point of view using the YoyoFreaks Hashtag. According to YoyoBestbuy.com, the yoyo will drop on May 17, 2017. Remember there are only 100 of this series, it is a short run so do not miss this one.
Check out the promo video below and let me know what you think.
The next yoyo I am unboxing is the Yoyofficer Rave. I tried this yoyo once before and I really liked it so I thought why not get one for myself.
I got the green with purple splash that matches my other Yoyofficer yoyo called the Vector. The colorway is really nice. Yoyofficer did a good job with this Throw.
The Yoyofficer Rave is a bi-metal yoyo which I purchased at YoyoBestBuy at around $99.97. Out of the box, the yoyo feels really smooth while at play but the response is not as strong. However it still throws really well.
Something I noticed about Yoyofficer yoyos, the string that comes with it is really short. So being a techy player, I like the strings a little longer so I just swap it out with Kitty Fat.
The yoyo finish is not bead blasted but rather it is on the glossy side. However it is still very smooth and grinds well. In term of weight feel, the yoyo seems to be on the heavier side. Which makes this yoyo lean towards techy play styles rather than speedy. The shape as well not being a “v” shape suggests it is designed more for techy style play.
My recommendation if you are considering buying this yoyo is to get additional response pads. This should help in adjusting the responsiveness of the yoyoy to your liking. Overall, the Yoyofficer Rave is very nice bi-metal yoyo that should put a smile on the face of the techy player in you.
Check out the unboxing video of the Yoyofficer Rave and let me know what you think. Throw Score yoyo review to follow soon.
