Even though I have not witnessed the event myself, I thought it would be great to somehow support the contest in a special way and pay homage to my Filipino heritage.
With the help of my father, Vince Penacerrada, we reached out to the organizers of PNYYC. After a few days of messaging we arrived at an agreement that LorenzYoCubing will be an official platinum sponsor of the PNYYC 2018.
This year’s contest is coming up fast. The dates of the contest are September 1 and 2, 2018 and the venue will be at SM Marikina, Marcos Highway, Kalumpang, Marikina City.
There will be two main divisions (Professional Division and Amateur Division). The Professional Division will consist of five (5) divisions with a Preliminary round with one (1) minute routines & a Final round with three (3) minute routines:
1A Division: One sleeping Yo-Yo for string tricks.
2A Division: two (2) looping Yo-Yos for looping or circular trajectory tricks.
3A Division: two (2) sleeping yoyos for string tricks.
4A Division: one or more Yo-Yos not attached to the string/s for offstring tricks.
5A Division: one or more sleeping Yo-Yos not attached to the hand.
The Amateur Division will consist of players who are playing for less than 2 years. It will consist of two (2) minute routines. Previous champions will be seeded to the preliminaries of the PROFESSIONAL Division.
This contest is the biggest Yo-Yo contest in the Philippines and have inspired many to pursue professional yo-yo playing. I want to wish all the competitors the best and hope our support will help inspire and propagate this awesome performance sport. Mabuhay po!

Instead of doing a trick compilation video or a lifestreams for trhis competition, I decided to be like Rowland Balcom and do a vlog!!!
In the beginning of the day, Hanz and I woke up at 3:00 AM and drove 6 hours all the way to Fontana. We arrived there 20 minutes early so we had to wait in the hot sun outside the venue where I got to see my yoyo friends again, including some members of the YoyoHypeSquad. When I walked into the venue, my heart stopped for a second once I saw the stage. It was unlike the stages for competitions that I’ve seen before. This was a real stage!!! The good news was I wouldn’t have to worry about outside weather while performing.
Speaking of performing, I ended up getting 24th place out of the 37 that competed in the 1a Pro Division which I was really happy about because I didn’t get last.
Did I mention that the YoyoHypeSquad made it’s first official appearance at the competition? If you wanna know which performance was the loudest, skip to the section where Evan Nagao performed.
Thank You so much to Tsai Ding (creator of TOPYO) for sponsoring me and paying my competition fee.
Check out my vlog below and please like, comment, subscribe and share. Thanks!
